My brother was trying to mow the walking paths behind our property and got his industrial mower buried in the mud.
He came over and asked for help, so I took my little Suzuki quad back to try to tow him out. Even though it is only a 300cc quad it has an ultra low range with 4 wheel drive lock that gives it a lot of power for it’s size.. After we hooked up the tow strap the little Suzuki pulled out the big mower with no issues.
Size does not always matter, it’s how you transfer the engine power into action that’s important. For the Suzuki, the engine runs at a higher RPM, but the gearing turns that high RPM into a very low speed that has a lot of torque which allows it to pull things much larger than itself.
There is a lot of power in going slow. My brain tends to run at a high RPM, lots of thoughts and ideas flying around all the time. When I slow my actions down by really thinking about what is important and needs to be done this gives me a lot of power to do hard things. This is how successful people can perform well in crisis situations. Their mind is running fast, taking in everything that’s going on, but their actions are measured and deliberate – not ‘knee jerk’. This is a great example of ‘gearing down’ your thoughts to provide powerful actions.
